AARP Explains Mortgages, Insurance, Health, and Medical Care for Seniors
AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons, is a non-profit interest group for seniors. The group is a member organization for people over 50 that sell several financial products including insurance and investment funds.
Membership in AARP is available to seniors over 50 and only costs $16 a year. Spouses and partners can be added for free. You can enroll in AARP online via their website. You only need to enter your name and other personal information, submit a billing preference, and receive your confirmation.

AARP Programs
AARP members are able to volunteer for and participate in several activities through the organization.
- AARP Tax-Aide is a program that provides free tax advice to AARP members. You can also sign up to be a volunteer and be the one that is giving the advice. Or, you can use the resource to receive advice on your income taxes.
- The AARP Driver Safety Program helps seniors stay refreshed on their driving skills.
- AARP Money Management Program helps low-income and disabled seniors make the most of their money by assisting them with budgeting and paying bills.
- The AARP Benefits Outreach Program helps seniors figure out whether they’re eligible to receive public benefits.
- Through Create the Good, you can discover new volunteer activities in your area. If you know of a volunteer opportunity, you can post it and solicit senior volunteers.
